The International Chamber of Commerce- Kenya Chapter and JMiles & Co. held a joint workshop on International Arbitration on 6th December 2017 at the Apollo Centre in Westlands.
The JMiles & Co. team spoke on a variety of topics relevant to the practice of International Arbitration. These topics included: the various methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution; a general introduction to International Arbitration; the drafting of effective arbitration clauses; the use of Bilateral Investment Treaties/Multilateral Investment Treaties by private corporations in Investment Arbitration; and the enforcement of arbitral awards under the ICSID system. Jacqueline Mugo (CEO of ICC-Kenya) and Samuel Nderitu (Director of ICC-Kenya) provided brief opening and closing remarks respectively.
The event was well-attended by members of the private sector and arbitrators of various professions, who were members from CIArb-Kenya and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
