On 16th September 2015, the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Roadshow came to Nairobi. The ICCA Nairobi Roadshow was aimed at publicising the ICCA Congress which will take place in Mauritius from 8-11 May 2016 – the first time that an ICCA Congress will be held in Africa. The Roadshow focused on the relationship between international arbitration and the rule of law in the East African context. Elizabeth Karanja, Director of JMiles & Co., who is an ICCA Member and the ICCA Mauritius Ambassador for East Africa, spoke on the User’s Perspective to International Arbitration and the Rule of Law. Other speakers included: Prof. Dr. Albert Jan van den Berg, the President of ICCA; Mr. John Ohaga, a Kenyan practitioner; Mr. Farouk El Hosseny of the PCA, Mr. Duncan Bagshaw, former registrar of LCIA-MIAC; Ms. Ndanga Kamau, present registrar of LCIA – MIAC; Ms. Lise Bosman, ICCA Executive Director; and Mr. Lawrence Muiruri, the acting registrar of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration.
