On 29th to the 31st May 2024, ICC Kenya hosted the 8th ICC Africa Conference on International Arbitration, and being the first ICC Africa Conference hosted outside of Lagos Nigeria, at Emara Hotel, in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of the conference was ‘Emerging Trends in ADR in Africa.’ The event saw over 200 international delegates who shared valuable insights contributing to shaping the future of international arbitration in Africa.

Our Nikhil Desai, being the chairman, ADR Commission, of ICC Kenya, played a central role in organising the conference and seeing to its success. Additionally, Mr. Desai delivered the keynote address and lauded the great strides undertaken by arbitration practitioners within the continent in the development of arbitration and ADR practice in the past decade. He also underscored the emerging trends that we are witnessing in arbitration and ADR, where he mentioned Fintech disputes, ESG related disputes, corruption and public policy challenges and AfCFTA.
