JMiles & Co. participates in the first ICC FraudNet conference in Africa

May 2015

JMiles & Co. was in the planning committee for the ICC FraudNet conference held in Cape Town. The conference consisted of two days of interactive seminars focusing on fraud and corruption on the African continent. In attendance were FraudNet members from around the world and strategic sponsors who shared their experiences and ideas on how to tackle fraud and corruption on the continent. John Miles gave a presentation on his experience on tackling fraud and corruption in East Africa.

JMiles & Co. invited Hon. Edward Ouko, Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya, who gave a thought provoking key note presentation on fraud prevention. A key note presentation was also given by  Glynnis Breytenbach, the former Senior Deputy Director of Prosecution (Pretoria regional office), on fraud and corruption in South Africa.

Given the rise in investment in Africa and the increasing willingness of most African governments to prosecute cases of fraud and corruption, the conference was a great platform for experts in the industry to share ideas on this topical issue.

The three day event came to a conclusion at John Miles’s estate in Cape Town, Bastiaanskloof (http://www.bastiaanskloof.co.za/), where JMiles & Co. hosted a Gourmet lunch by chef, Caro De Waal, followed by outdoor activities (which included trekking and boulder hopping).
